Now that it's beginning to sink in that I'll be leaving my beloved Highland Park next month, seeing things like this make me incredibly sentimental:
Sure, the sight of a singed trash bin undoubtedly signals a neighborhood that's probably seen better days. But when I saw it sitting beside the curb on Figueroa the other day, I couldn't help but smile and because it's exactly the kind of thing that gives Highland Park so much zany character and colorful quirkiness.
Here are a few of my other "Sights of Highland Park" favorites:

Only the cutest lil car ever. Ave. 57, Spring 2008.

Free Furniture. LA River, Summer 2008.

Roof Shootin'. Ave. 56, Spring 2009.

Bear Necessities. Fig. & Ave. 58, Fall 2009.

Queen of Hearts. Footsies parking lot, Spring 2010.

Mary and Meggie. Monte Vista and Ave. 57, Spring 2010.
90042, thanks for taking such good care of me these past three years.
xoxo,
Meggie
